2026 Northern Elite Soccer Tryouts

2026 NORTHERN ELITE SOCCER CLUB TRYOUTS

NOTE: As you register for our May tryouts, please be aware that many of our teams are holding open trainings this spring, leading up to tryouts. So please take advantage of that if you're interested. You can find a listing of these teams in our TRYOUT weboage.

Tryouts will be taking place in May (dates will be announced at a later time and subject to change due to weather / field availability)

Times: TBD by age group more information to come. As we approach tryouts, we will provide tryout time & location details to all tryout registrants.

NEW YOUTH SOCCER AGE GROUPS - mandated by US Soccer

U-9: DOB range Aug 1, 2017 – July 31, 2018

U-10: DOB range Aug 1, 2016 – July 31, 2017

U-11: DOB range Aug 1, 2015 – July 31, 2016

U-12: DOB range Aug 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015

U-13: DOB range Aug 1, 2013 – July 31, 2014

U-14: DOB range Aug 1, 2012 – July 31, 2013

U-15: DOB range Aug 1, 2011 – July 31, 2012

U-16: DOB range Aug 1, 2010 – July 31, 2011

U-17: DOB range Aug 1, 2009 – July 31, 2010

U-18: DOB range Aug 1, 2008 – July 31, 2009

Cost: $8 dollars (includes transaction svc fee and is NON REFUNDABLE)

There is no commitment associated with this registration, beyond participation in tryouts.

IMPORTANT (PLEASE READ):

Age groups are based on birth calendar year.

General Comments on Tryouts:

> Please arrive 15 - 30 minutes before each session's start time

> Please plan to attend the first and/all sessions within your birthyear

> Sessions may not last the entire 2 hour time slot

> Please bring a fully inflated soccer ball, water, soccer cleats, and shin guards

Northern Elite offers a full year program for soccer players looking to train and play. Online pre-registration is required for logistical reasons and so that players have read the participation waiver.

Tryout Prep and What to Expect

Leading up to Tryouts:

> Speed, strength and agility training should be performed regularly up to and through tryouts.

> Fundamental skill work with passing, trapping and driving the ball for field players and goalkeepers. Goalkeepers should also be sufficiently fit for skill specific evaluations.

> Small sided scrimmages will be excellent preparation for similar tryout evaluation conditions.

Pre-trial Process

> Players should arrive early to tryout times in order to check-in with adequate time.

> Upon check-in, players will be sectioned off by age ranges.

Tryout Process

> One trainer will be designated for each age group.

> Trainers will run entire session while coaches evaluate. Trainers will offer evaluations as well.

Tryout Schedule

> Tryout sessions will start and end promptly.

> Tryouts will involve evaluation of technical skills, athleticism, small-sided play and possibly full-sided play.

> Some age groups may start with larger sided games.

Post Tryout Process

> Coaches and trainers will submit evaluation feedback.

> Teams will be selected by coaches.

> In cases of multiple team age groups, head coaches and Executive Board may meet to determine team placements.

Notification Process

> Player placements/cuts will usually be done through email unless no email address is available or a special condition exists. In those cases a phone call will be placed to the players' family.
